Riding the Waves: Atlantic Dash Recap
The Atlantic Dash 2025 has concluded, marking an extraordinary chapter in ocean rowing history. As proud sponsors, Sheer Rocks extends heartfelt congratulations to all participating teams for their unparalleled endurance and commitment during this grueling 3,200-mile journey from Lanzarote to Antigua.
Waves to Awareness: As Antigua’s very own team, this dynamic pair—Ruby Coates and Steffan Evans—achieved a remarkable first-place finish and demonstrated exceptional resilience. Their mission transcended the race; they aimed to raise awareness and funds for the Caribbean Maritime Safety Association (CMSA), focusing on enhancing maritime and water safety across the Caribbean. Their dedication to this cause is truly inspiring.
Pollyanne: Solo rower Gary Hutchings showcased immense courage and determination. Representing the UK, Gary undertook this solo endeavor to support The Motor Neurone Foundation, My Name’5 Doddie, and Devon Air Ambulance, highlighting the profound impact one individual can make.
Cruising Free: This formidable female quartet—Sophie Pierce, Janine Williams, Polly Zipperlen, and Miyah Periam—from Neyland Rowing Club in Pembrokeshire, UK, captivated us with their inspiring journey. Sophie, living with cystic fibrosis, aimed to become the first person with the condition to row the Atlantic, while Janine aspired to be the oldest woman to achieve this feat. Their endeavor supported the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Emily’s Entourage, and the Paul Sartori Foundation.
Row For It: Comprising Neil Glover, Peter Ross, Darren Smith, and Nick Southwood, this UK-based male foursome exhibited outstanding teamwork and perseverance. Rowing in support of multiple charities—including CDoC, Evelina Children’s Hospital London, The Shark Trust, and Eleanor’s Fight—their collective efforts have made a significant impact.
Our “Meet the Rowers” event at Sheer Rocks was a resounding success, with a vibrant turnout celebrating these athletes’ monumental achievements. The enthusiasm and support from the community were truly heartwarming.
We eagerly anticipate next year’s Atlantic Dash and remain committed to supporting these awe-inspiring endeavors that push the boundaries of human potential.
